How Prisma pricing works

Prisma bills you for real work, on both halves of your stack. Your app on Prisma Compute pays for the requests it serves, the memory and CPU it uses while running, and the data it sends out. Your database on Prisma Postgres counts every query as one operation, and operations are what you pay for.

The ceremony around shipping stays free: deploys, preview branches, idle time, and the number of people on your team never add to the bill. An idle app scales to zero and costs nothing. A request does the same work whether it comes from a person, a script, or an AI agent, so that work is all you're charged for.

Every paid plan also includes a hard spend limit, on by default, so usage-based pricing stays predictable and never becomes a surprise bill.

Every plan includes

  • Prisma ORM (always free)
  • Unlimited Prisma Postgres data transfer
  • Spend limits
  • Prisma Studio
  • CLI + Management API

See how Prisma compares at scale

Prisma charges per operation: each query your app runs against your database counts as one. No seats. No egress fees. And every paid plan includes a hard spend limit so there are no surprises.

At around 50K monthly active users, Prisma Pro can cost up to 5x less than a typical Neon + Vercel setup, with one bill, included data transfer, and spend limits on by default.

Real teams, real builds

Prisma makes database management incredibly easy. Prisma's built-in type safety helps us avoid mistakes that happen with manual setups.
Ron CohenCo-founder & CTO, Bucket
We chose Prisma because it provides us with type safety directly from the database. It has helped us tremendously to catch possible errors early on.
Omar LópezSr. Software Engineer, Cal.com
We are able to take advantage of caching to speed up queries and reduce latency, making them lightning fast.
Blake CarrollCTO, Solin
Prisma is the best ORM I have ever used, I never want to use anything else again. The excellent developer experience with its incredible TypeScript support sold me at first.
Max StoiberFounder, Stellate
Prisma has a low learning curve. Productivity becomes higher because it gets combined with end-to-end type-safety using TypeScript.
Ricardo AlmeidaSoftware Engineer, Grover
Prisma has been an absolute game changer for Memberstack. It has helped us move faster while also improving product stability.

Tyler BellCo-founder, Memberstack
We've proudly built the core of our APIs on top of Prisma, and we are very happy that we did. It doesn't make us jump through unnecessary hoops to get normal work done and generally just works.
James FoxCo-Founder, Gamma
Prisma's approach to type-safe ORM is next-level. It provides full type-safety without any codegen or messy types and interfaces to write and maintain.
Pieter VenterSr. Software Engineer, Invisible
Prisma is a professional enterprise-ready tool that is easy to start using, ramp up and scale. It is the type of tool developed for the software engineers of today.
Matt MathesonCo-Founder, Trunk
The combination of Prisma, TypeScript and our pretty thorough coverage with integration tests gives us the confidence to refactor critical parts of our code.
Thibaut NguyenCTO, Poppy
I chose Prisma because of its clean API, nice developer experience and type safety. It helped me ship v1 of Instatus really fast.
Ali SalahFounder, Instatus
This is the fastest I've ever developed in my life, by far. The tooling has dramatically cut down on the amount of time I've had to spend.

FAQs

An operation is a single action against your Prisma Postgres database — a create, read, update, or delete. A simple write and a complex query with multiple joins each count as one operation, and a cached read counts too.
